FAQs

Q: What is being recalled?

A: PowerStop has issued a recall for its Braided Stainless-Steel Brake Hoses after learning of a potential issue with the product’s steel fittings. We remain fully committed to the safety and satisfaction of its customers and to ensuring all those affected are made whole.

Q: What products are affected?

A: This relates to PowerStop’s Braided Stainless-Steel Brake Hoses. We are recalling all brake hose part numbers / SKUs purchased in any year since we began selling these hoses in 2019.

Q: What is your plan to replace or provide a remedy for the part in question?

A: PowerStop will refund end customers the cost of the purchased PowerStop brake hoses as well as an additional fixed fee to reimburse the vehicle owner for the estimated cost of removal and replacement of these brake hoses.

In order to receive reimbursement for the purchased PowerStop brake hoses, the end customer must provide proof of purchase for PowerStop brake hoses included in this recall. The reimbursement amount is the retail price of the brake hoses. Note that in cases where the brake hoses were purchased as part of a brake kit, the reimbursement covers the price of the brake hoses but not the other brake kit components.

In order to receive an additional fixed reimbursement of $250.00 for estimated cost of removal of PowerStop brake hoses and installing new brake hoses, the end customer must submit a valid receipt from the installer for the repair work or provide visual images of PowerStop brake hoses off the vehicle.

Please note:  The request for the $250.00 reimbursement for estimated labor costs related to brake hose replacement must be submitted within ninety (90) days from the time proof of purchase for the PowerStop brake hoses was submitted.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

If you have purchased PowerStop braided steel brake hoses, you may request reimbursement for the purchased PowerStop brake hoses as well as the additional fixed reimbursement of $250.00 for estimated cost of removal of PowerStop brake hoses and installing new brake hoses. In order to qualify for this remedy, please be sure to retain documentation for proof of purchase of PowerStop brake hoses and repair work related to removal of PowerStop brake hoses.

Q: Are consumers at risk? Has anyone been injured?

A: There have been no reported injuries. However, in light of the product testing failure and not meeting deferal requirements, we would recommend you have the PowerStop brake hoses removed and replaced as soon as possible.

Q: Is this the only PowerStop product being recalled or are other products impacted?

A: Our Braided Stainless-Steel Brake Hoses are the only product being recalled. No other PowerStop products are being recalled, and it should be noted that if you purchased a brake kit containing brake hoses, it is only the brake hoses that are recalled and other components of the brake kit are fine for continued use (e.g. brake pads, brake rotors, brake calipers).

Q: How is my reimbursement going to be sent?

A: Payment will be in the form of a virtual prepaid card.
